Your Fabric Is a Sleep Decision

Most people obsess over their mattress but ignore the material touching their skin all night.

Your sleepwear sits against your body for seven or eight hours. It plays a direct role in how your body manages heat and moisture.

Choose the wrong fabric and you may spend the night fighting your own thermostat. Choose the right one and you’ll barely notice you’re wearing anything.

For decades, cotton has been the default. It’s familiar, affordable and breathable when dry.

The problem starts when it absorbs moisture.

What is micromodal?

Micromodal is made from beechwood pulp and spun into extremely fine fibres.

These finer fibres create a softer feel, smoother drape and lighter garment. It’s often used in premium underwear and loungewear because it feels exceptionally smooth against the skin.

But softness is only part of the story.

The way micromodal manages heat and moisture is what makes it especially suited to sleepwear.

Micromodal vs cotton

Softness

Micromodal fibres are significantly finer than conventional cotton fibres. This gives the fabric a smoother, lighter feel and makes it gentler against sensitive skin.

Temperature

Micromodal is lightweight and breathable. Unlike heavier cotton weaves, it allows heat to escape more easily, helping you remain comfortable throughout the night.

Moisture

Micromodal moves moisture away from the skin and releases it more efficiently. Cotton absorbs moisture but can hold onto it, leaving the fabric feeling damp and heavy.

If you sleep warm or regularly wake up sweaty, this can mean the difference between settling back to sleep and lying awake at 3 am.

Longevity

Quality micromodal resists pilling and retains its softness, colour and shape when cared for correctly. It stays smooth instead of becoming stiff or scratchy over time.

Who is micromodal sleepwear for?

Micromodal is worth considering if you:

  • Sleep hot or wake up overheated

  • Train regularly and prioritise recovery

  • Have sensitive skin

  • Dislike heavy or restrictive pyjamas

  • Want softer, lighter and more breathable sleepwear

Cotton is fine.

Micromodal is better where it counts. Keeping you cool, dry and comfortable while you sleep.
